Buckskin 2006 APHA colt out of Please Zip Me-Good news and bad news...
This buckskin colt, out of Please Zip me on the mares page, and by Pocos Eternal Trace, came into the world with problems unknown to us at the time. He was long-legged and beautiful and we loved him so! We immediately noticed that something was a bit odd about the colt and took him to be treated right away. He arrived at the vet, standing well and walking around but we just couldnt put our finger on what was wrong. The vet also recommended leaving him overnight for observation. The call the next morning brought good news, as well as bad. Dr. Brockman said that the colt was very healthy and his system was operating in optimal condition, however he was totally BLIND! This was caused by a strain of the Equine Herpes virus that the mare caught while in foal and went undetected by us. We checked on "Tiffany" every day during the pregnancy and nothing seemed to be wrong. Apparently the virus was caught during the foals eye development, resulting in malformation of the inner chambers of the eye..and total blindness. Dr. Brockman assured us that he had already encountered numerous foals in the spring with the same problem, and it was nobody's fault. Despite being very healthy otherwise, the foal had no chance in life. Horses born blind do not understand barriers, lessons, and the numerous spooky things around them and are a danger not only to themselves, but other horses and humans as well. It was in the best interest of the foal to say "goodbye". Though we knew him for less than 24 hours, we will remember him and we are glad to know that he is happy over "Rainbow Bridge".

"Frankie"
"Frankie" is a palomino tobiano APHA '04 gelding out of Please Zip Me and by Pocos Eternal Trace. He's a full brother to Olivia's main show gelding Poco Zipped Me Too. "Frankie" is already doing great under saddle working on collection and consistency. He won firsts in yearling halter last year and got second at the KY State Show in yearling halter against many other nice yearlings. He got fourth in 2&3 year old snaffle Western Pleasure in July of this year at the Kentucky State show. He is following in Luke's steps to becoming a well rounded show horse, but is actually much more laid back than Luke and may make a great kids horse some day. Frankie is a bit lazy but he's very eager to please. This is a great prospect with a long future ahead of him. CONGRATS TO THE BUSHEY FAMILY ON THEIR PURCHASE OF "FRANKIE" AND WELCOME TO KENTUCKY!! His full brother was sold to Michigan as a Western Pleasure prospect a few years ago and the 4-H family who bought him was just tickled with his attitude and rideability. He has a star-strip-snip, and a white left hind foot that goes upward and covers over the back of his fetlock. His dam was an all around champ in classes from halter to western pleasure to barrels and team penning. She even excelled in limited hunter classes. His buckskin foundation sire adds a bit of foundation breeding and versatile blood to make Bentley a colt that should be sharp as a tack and a quick learner.

Zippo Pine Bar and Doc Bar are on her papers! A full brother to her sire made AQHA's 2006 TOP 200 point-producing sire's list and she is bred for excellence in performance as well as other areas. This mare has an awesome build and a good mind. A white star, no other markings. She is a hair shy of 15.2hh. She supposedly had some Western Pleasure training as a youngster, has a nice headset and easygoing attitude, very smart and a quick learner. She has been ridden on trails, does great. Make her your next great trail horse, broodmare, or maybe put a little extra time on her and show her. She's fine with being stalled or in pasture, does great working in a roundpen or out in the open. She has a nice round jaw, naturally clean throatlatch, big shoulder and hip, and adequate muscle. Lucy came from Florida and served as a show mare for Olivia as she wanted to "step it up" from her previous show experience. Olivia learned so much from Lucy as they showed together for years, and at times Lucy knew her intelligence was being underestimated!

Olivia learned so much from Lucy as they showed together for years, and at times Lucy knew her intelligence was being underestimated! This mare was one people would remember and look for at the shows wherever we went, some wishing we wouldnt be there becaused we "cleaned up" so often. Its a rare horse that can slow-jog and lope to first place in Western Pleasure, then come back flying in the arena around the barrels to win that too. Lucy did all the Western classes with skill, Contest and speed classes, Hunter Under Saddle, even some small Jumps. She competed, with great success, in team penning events with the Palomino Horse Breeders Association and also worked cattle well at clinics she was ridden in. She helped us come away with multiple "all-around" championships, winning countless monetary earnings and other awards. These include: a saddle, a halter, breastplate, headstall, belt-buckles, boxes and boxes of trophies, ribbons, and platters too. Lucy made a good "babysitter" for visitors who wanted to ride a gentle, calm horse here. Her 2005 buckskin filly PRF Poca Barra is an ARHA halter point earner and is loved very much by her new owners in Elizabethtown, KY. Her 2006 sorrel colt "Bentley" is also developing nicely and was bought by relatives just down the road from us. Lucy is in foal to Pocos Eternal Trace for a nice foal in 2007. UPDATE: Lucy, though an important part of Olivia's history with horses, has been sold to a VERY loving home not far away and we will continue to see her, possibly foal her out, and she will be bred back to our stallion.
