We at Painted Ridge Farms truly believe in the success and operation of a small, quality horse business. Our love and passion for horses has been engrained from the beginnings of our lives, and no force on the earth could remove it from our hearts. We started Painted Ridge Farms with the idea of immense quality in a small breeding operation, paying attention to the small details that really matter. We do not believe in ..... horse trading..... in the sense of going through horses like candy to vend them off in an attempt based solely on trying to make quick profit. We love, respect, and nurture each animal, while teaching them proper discipline and providing superior care.
I, Kathy, the founder of Painted Ridge Farms, began my life on numerous Thoroughbred farms, learning the ways of my father, Earl, who trained thoroughbreds for a living. The love of equines has been stamped upon my heart since those early years, and shall never be removed. I began to purchase a few quality Paints and Quarter horses, maintaining the utmost respect to all other breeds encountered along the way, and started a family, as well as a legacy. Now my daughter Olivia, 18, works alongside me in hopes of continuing the family tradition of equine excellence. Though I remain the brains and muscle of the operation, Olivia enjoys training and showing the horses, as well as handling some of the PR for Painted Ridge Farms. Together we hope to produce and raise top quality AQHA and APHA horses, ready to face the trail, the showpen, and the world. Please feel free to ask us any questions regarding our horses and our operation. We welcome scheduled farm visits by interested breeders and/or buyers. Please make yourself welcome as you enjoy the fruits of our toil!
Please see the navigational buttons at the top for access to each individual page. Most pictures can be enlarged by simply clicking on them, and a larger version will be opened for you. Though we truly love each horse, we have learned that almost everything has a price hidden somewhere. If you see a horse that is not listed as .....For Sale..... and would like to make a reasonable offer, please feel free to email us regarding that individual.
Sale and Trading policy:
Though most horses are listed as .....For Sale....., we have the right to inquire about future use, intent, care, and ownership duration of any prospective sale horse. We also reserve the right to refuse any sale due to personal reasons and the interest of the prospective sale horse. Those purchasing a horse agree to sign a Sale Contract. We have the right to refuse sale to those who refuse to sign a sale contract, as well as the right to .....buy-back..... any horse who is mistreated, malnourished, or otherwise placed in serious harm by its new owners. Any horse can be reserved for two weeks by placing a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the value of the horse, which will be deducted from the sale price. No horse may depart for his/her new destination home without being paid for in full, unless previous arrangements have been approved. We usually do not accept trades, however you are welcome to make us an offer that you don’t think we can refuse. If we were to trade a sale horse for a new horse, certain qualifications would have to be met by the new horse before consideration of trade. These include, but are not limited to,: Soundness, excellent conformation, willing disposition, freedom from genetic defaults, registration, freedom from habitual psychologically detrimental behavior, naturally decent temperament, overall pleasing appearance, and rare coat colors don’t hurt either! A preferred candidate for trade, in addition to the aforementioned qualifications, would have a rare, or hard-to-produce coat color such as (but not limited to): dunskin, dunalino, grullo, smokey grullo (carrying crème gene), smokey creme, cremello, perlino, ivory champagne, classic cream champagne, dun/roan combinations, crème/roan combinations, with Paints having pleasing white patterns also desirable.
